Cushion.com makes cushions in two different types of constructions. Boxed Edge cushions and Waterfall Edge (or Knife Edge) cushions.
Boxed edge cushions are constructed with top and bottom fabric panels that are connected by an additional strip of fabric between the two panels, making the cushion look more boxed with well defined edges due to the double seams.
Waterfall edge cushions and knife edge cushions are constructed with top and bottom fabric panels that are sewn directly to each other, creating a softer, smoother edge resembling a waterfall when filled. Thinner cushions with waterfall edge construction are also commonly known as Knife Edge cushions.
When measuring the thickness of a cushion that Cushion.com has made for Waterfall construction it is measured at the center of the cushion not on the edges. When measuring Waterfall construction for the length and depth the sides need to be up against a straight edge. With Boxed construction, thickness, depth and length are measured seam to seam.
All cushions are all filled with Polyester Fiber Fill. Polyester Fiber fill is vertically layered, heat-bonded polyester and is 100% free of any bonding agents.
WARNING: Products containing foam can expose you to chemicals including Toluene diisocyanate, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer. For more information visit www.p65warnings.ca.gov.
Welting is optional on all Cushion.com custom made cushions. Welting is a type of trimming that is sewn into the seams of the cushion in which the seam cannot be seen and is given an appearance of a piping or tubing instead. Welting can be made in either the same fabric or contrasting fabric colors. This provides a crisper look to the cushion while providing enhanced stitching durability.
Cushions made with a waterfall edge construction have a single welt option as there is only one seam. Cushions made in a boxed edge construction have double welt options for the top and bottom seams of the pad.
Disclaimer: Adding single or double welt trimming to your cushion can add up to ¼” to the dimensions on all sides.
NOTE: Sometimes during shipping the seams and the welt may be uneven. If the seams and welt are uneven please pull the seams or welt to make them even with the foam. The cushion may have a temporary crease from folding that will over time smooth out if you leave it unfolded. The foam may shift during shipping as well. Please see filling section for the information on how to fix the filling from shifting during shipping.
